February 2025 First blog for the new year. My year so far. I’ve made a concentrated effort to post onto my rosiemiles Facebook every few days. And consistency does pay off. I’m growing my list of followers. It’s slow, but it’s moving in the right direction. I was hopeful that by January 25, I’d have my newsletter sorted, didn’t happen. For some reason, unknown to me, it disappeared. After hunting for months, it is now back (thanks Aditya Sunil webmaster) But, there are a few issues that need ironing out, and seeing as I want to run my newsletter from my website, it’s put me behind a tad, so hopefully by the end of February. Fingers and toes crossed. Next Challenge In my blog in November, I mentioned after having such a fabulous time at The Logan Bookfest, I put my hand up to participate in the Gold Coast Writers Association, Write and Sip evening at the Whisky Room Mudgeraba. The theme was based around Hallmark Christmas Movies. It was a moody, intimate venue. It was a great night. It was my first time speaking to a group and I got through. My nerves were stretched to the max. Every negative emotion was magnified in my head. But I faced my fears and did it. And didn’t get booed of stage. And a bonus, I even sold a copy of Never Surrender, and did some promotion for Her Aussie Protector, due for release in June this year. All in all, a real fun learning curve. A big shout out to Tracey Rosen, who encouraged me. And Alison L Robson for her help in calming my nerves. I appreciate you both. And I ask the question here, in your humble opinion, is the original Die Hard movie, a Christmas movie? Just curious. Time Away: Over Christmas and New year, I didn’t have much time away. A couple of huge curve ball derailed me, but my forever man and I are heading down the coast for some relaxing time away. The beach calms me. And trust me, I need to calm. I will put some photos up on my Rosie Miles Facebook page, and in next month’s blog. IDEAS. As discussed in my last blog post, people ask where I get my ideas from. My answer’s still the same. No clue. I can be looking out the window see a woman sitting in the gutter, looking distressed, and I go into, I wonder why she’s upset. Has she been hurt? Has she lost all her possessions? Has she lost someone she loves? I wonder where she’s from? Or I see two people one inside a car, one outside. The person outside passes the one inside a parcel. OMG, is that a drug deal going down? Who do I call? Why are they on drugs? My mind will build scenarios over most things I see. I can usually piece something together. Even if I never use them in a story, it’s good to write all my crazy thoughts down. Oh, I also have a new header for my writing pages. I have the same but different for my newsletter. Thanks for reading. And remember, you can contact me on [email protected]
Rosie Miles Facebook Instagram - rosie_miles I will be sending out invites via my Rosie Miles Facebook page to sign up for my newsletter. As soon as I get my webpage sorted. Till next time, remember, Life is to be lived, Go live yours. Love Rosie. ❤️

November 24 Four Months: Four Blogs. Go me My month so far. I’ve made a concentrated effort to post onto my rosiemiles facebook every few days. And consistency does pay off. I’m growing my list of followers. It’s slow, but it’s moving in the right direction. I’m hopeful that by January 25, I’ll have my newsletter sorted. Logan Bookfest Last month, I mentioned that I was attending Logan Bookfest, my first venture out as an author. My friend Patty, from Fresh & Peppy, Digital Design, created my table runner, and also crafted some postcards to advertise my new book, Her Aussie Protector. She did a fabulous job, and my table looked fabulous. I was terrified but once I met Jackie Matjasec, creator of The Simple Budget, who was my table buddy, the day flew, and it ended up being a wonderful experience. I talked to heaps of lovely people and met numerous authors, most of them locals. And I even sold some books. The event organizer did a fabulous job. I will be coming back next year. Time Away: Time away is magic. This month my forever man and I travelled by train to Rockhampton, where we caught up with family who were taking a break from travelling around this huge country of ours in their caravan. And we had a terrific few days catching up, eating, drinking, and walking. We stayed at Kinka Beach, on the Capricorn coast, a truly beautiful spot. While there we visited Emu Creek. I was blown away by the most impressive memorials for our fallen soldiers, from all wars. Just heartbreaking. Next Challenge
After being brave and doing the Bookfest, I put my hand up again, to step out of my comfort zone. This time, I’m presenting at a Write N Sip night along with two fabulous authors, Alison L Robson, and Tracey Rosen. We will be hosting this event at the Whisky Room at Mudgerabah, down the Gold Coast. The night is based around Hallmark Christmas Movies. We are going to have a great night. IDEAS. As a writer, people ask me, where do I get my ideas. And I honestly have no idea. Her Aussie Protector came about when I volunteered at a charity, named Rosie's friends on the Streets. run by the church. Volunteers go around to bakeries and shops, where the owners of the shops donate goods, left over from the days business. The donations are brought to the church hall, where the food is cut into potions and packed into trays. Urns are filled with boiling water, so our people can have soups and other hot drinks. When we get to the area, we set up chairs, then get the food ready for the people to come and choose. What more important, in my eyes, is the conversations made with these people, who for whatever reason find themselves on the Streets. Some stories are heart wrenching, some, not so bad. Not all are homeless, some people just need someone to chat to. Rosie's offers food, friendship and conversations. And believe it or not, laughter. Volunteering there sparked my imagination, from that, Her Aussie Protector, took shape. I can’t wait for you all to read this book. Till next time, remember, Life is to be lived, Go live yours. Love Rosie. Three blogs in three months, I’m still burning. My woes with technology give me a headache. My technology skills are still dismal, but I’ve figured out how to fix it. I’ve begged for help and thankfully, my friend Aditya, has once again, stepped in to support me. I’m forever grateful and I promise I will learn, I will. News As you know, I have my new book coming out in 2025. I’m stoked by that. I also have my award-winning novel, Never Surrender, still available for sale on Amazon. I also have printed books available for sale. Please email me at [email protected]. If you’d like to purchase a copy. On that note, I’m being brave and stepping into the world of, standing in front of a table, with my name on it, stating, HI, my name is Rosie and I’m a writer. I’m attending Logan Bookfest this Saturday, the 2nd November. I’m terrified. I don’t know why, because most people who attend events like this, according to those who have participated in lots of book fairs, are lovely and just want to chat about writing and books. And I can chat. I can chat really well. So, going forward with positivity and belief that I will survive, I purchased more copies of Never Surrender to sell on the day. I also had some postcards for my upcoming release, Her Aussie Protector, designed by my friend, Patty who is about to launch her business, Fresh & Peppy, Digital Design. Patty also designed my table runner. I will make sure to get photo’s and post them on my next blog. My forever man and I, On October 27, attended the premiere for an Independent Australian Movie, titled, Double or Nothing. Well, what a day I had Sunday. As I mentioned in my last post, my forever man and I attended a Premiere for the movie Double or Nothing, which is an Aussie crime-comedy film about two cousins embarking on a high energy race against the clock to find $50K, when the mob discover one of them has been skimming from their Gold Coast workshop. And it was fabulous. We laughed at the antics of the two leads, Andrew Ian Pope, 'Turbo' and Rowan Howard as 'Nick' Terrific actors who worked well together. We held breath during some of the grittier scenes. I admit, I was amazed by one particular scene. But it proved to me at least. that, a Female villain, is way scarier than a male villain, in my eyes. Erin Connor was cold, calculating and I loved her character. In saying that, Vince Colosimo, a veteran Aussie actor, came damn close to creeping me out. Another big name in the movie, and yes, another Aussie legend, John Jarratt, played his character Col, to perfection. The talented Nicole Payten-Betts played Mel, and what an outstanding performance from her. Nicole also produced this venture. And I know, she worked her butt off. I got to walk the red carpet, exciting. And fun. My forever man and I hopefully will get a decent photo. I did the fan girl thing and approached the actors and managed to ask for a photo. And they said yes. One actor I didn't know was Kayshik Das, who played Patty. So, being brave, I approached him , and not only did we get a photo together, we chatted for a while, he shared a funny story about the electric car scene. Apparently, he didn't know how to drive it, it was a getaway car. This movie is an independent film, and it's a candidate to be nominated for Best Independent Feature at the AACTA awards, and last but by no way least, this movie script was written, directed and produced, by Dru Brown. And as a note to anyone wanting to write and sell a script, I have the info you need. According to John Jarratt and Vince Colosimo, there are three key elements that will encourage an actor to accept a role in a movie. Script. Script. Script. Go see it when it comes to a cinema near you. We need to support our Australian Film industry. Next blog, Will be November. I’ll tell you all about my first venture taking myself to a Bookfest.
Exciting times ahead. Till next time, remember, Life is to be lived, Go live yours. Love Rosie. Three months. Three Blogs. This girl is on fire. OMGoodness, look what I have to show off. As I mentioned last month, August was my cover reveal month, and right on the 31st, this gorgeous cover was delivered to my inbox. I’m thrilled with the cover, and with the support given to me by Rowan Prose Publishing. Not only did I get the cover, but they have also created a trailer. And I’m over the moon. Now, as you know, my technology skills need work, but I’m going to attach it here, so you can enjoy the preview of Asher and Mitch’s story. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wo4iHchAwtKVRrkrdMvuBGcqGIxSoYvt/view?usp=drive_web Ideas People often ask, where do I get my story ideas? So, I thought I’d share the concept for Asher and Mitch’s story. A few years ago, I volunteered at a charity food van, one Friday a month. We’d meet at the school, stock the van with food, that had been generously donated by bakeries and shops, fill the urns with boiling water. When the van was completely stocked, all the volunteers would pile in, and we headed to the car park, where we set up tables, chairs and organized the food and beverages. This haven was for anyone to drop in and share food and conversations. I met some wonderful individuals, but there were a lot of homeless people, they shared their stories. They laughed, then ate and left. Those who stayed for a while, usually helped pack up the van at the end of the night. And believe it or not, I worked the Doctor who organized the ambulance to go out into the community to help others, who for whatever reason, wouldn’t, or couldn’t go to a doctor’s surgery. So, that’s where Asher and Mitch’s story grew from. And that’s the only similarities to my story. Everything else in this book is created by me. I want to give the Doctor a shout out, he is a wonderful human, and he continues to help the community thrive, but he’s out of the country now, and I don’t want to name him without his permission, so hopefully next month, I can. Tassie holiday. Tasmania, you are truly beautiful. Visiting you is a pleasure. We stayed mostly on the east coast, halfway between Hobart and Launceston. I live in Queensland. It’s hot, really hot. And dry. Tassie is the reverse, cold and lush. So, it’s lovely to go to the cold, where we get to wear jackets and scarves, beanies and gloves. I love the beach and Bicheno doesn’t disappoint. I laugh when I see people swimming in the ocean. Even with a wetsuit, I couldn’t submerge myself into the freezing water. But I must admit, the swimmers seemed to enjoy it. I preferred sitting on the sand, and watching the waves roll in. And some classic beach art. We spend out last two nights at Salamanca, Hobart. Such a stunning place. I find it peaceful and calming. We walked around Constitution Dock and looked at the boats. Yachts. Cabin cruisers. Sigh, there’s just something about boats that appeal to me. Maybe that’s why my hero in the book I’m writing now, lives on a 40foot yacht. Till next time, remember, Life is to be lived, Go live yours. Love Rosie. Dennison Beach, Bicheno.Trendy Beach art made from broken shoe and seaweed.Constitutional Dock, HobartOMG, half a year has gone by already. Can you believe it? Hello, my friends, I made a promise to myself that I would create a blog. One that I could send out once a month. One that people would love to read. That didn’t work, so I will make an effort to get my backside into gear and get my blog out, as often as I can. Good News: I mentioned in my last blog post that I had finished my work in progress and was building up the nerve to send it. Well, I did. I pulled my big girl knickers up to my chin and sent it off. So now, I’m beyond thrilled to announce that I have signed a contract with Rowan Prose Publishing, for my Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel, titled, Her Aussie Protector. The book is due for release in 2025. Rowan Prose Publishing, thank you so much for giving me this opportunity. There are exciting times ahead for us. I will add a sneak peek at the cover of my book at the end of the blog. Now, I’ve found a publisher, I have to really commit myself to being a published author. And that means advertising. So, my goal for the next half of 2024 is to learn technology, really learn it. I mean, I have basic social media skills, like Facebook, I have an Instagram account, and that’s about all I know about Instagram. My granddaughter has sat with me for a while and shared her knowledge. Bless her heart. But it was all for nothing. All she taught me; left me the minute I clicked out of the site. Note to self: when she gives me my next lesson, I need to write down step-by-step instructions. When my first book, Never Surrender, was released, I froze. I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I couldn’t tell people that I was a writer, and that I had a book published. Then when Never Surrender won the Romance Writers of Australia’s Ruby award, I still didn’t tell people. Because Imposter Syndrome suffocated me. I didn’t do a book launch until twelve months after my release date. I called it the first-year anniversary of release, launch. I’ve learned a lot since then. This time, I’m ready. Ready to learn. I’m terrified of getting it wrong, but, I know, I have great people around who will help me but If I want to sell books, people have to know that one, my name is Rosie Miles and I write Romantic Suspense, and two, where they can find my books. So, I’m working on keeping my www.rosiemiles.com.au website updated. I’d like to thank Aditya for all he’s done for me, with my web. I will make you proud as I learn how to navigate and edit. I also am going to create a newsletter. But, for now, I’ll blog more frequently. Make my Facebook post more interesting. And basically, get my name out there. Another thing I'd like to try, is podcasts. I reckon they'd be a fun way to get to know other authors, and let others, get to know me. Until next time, remember Life is for living, Go live yours. : Love Rosie. April 30th 2021 I've received and email from my publisher advising me that Never Surrender will be available soon through Crazy Maple Studio's Kiss app. Further details as soon as I get them. I'm looking forward to seeing how it all pans out.
January 9th 2021 With a new year comes a new start. I've so many plans re writing and used this time away to think, plan and plot. I'm putting this post here, just to see if I can. As soon as I've worked out new website, more varied posts will pop up. I hope you enjoy my first day of camping.
Bundaberg camping trip. January 2nd 2021 REASONS TO BE GRATEFUL. What I’ve realised today is that camping is so not my usual holiday choice. We used to do this when the kids were small and money tight. We loved it. So, with overseas travel on hold for a while we decided to go back to basics and do a camping holiday in beautiful Queensland, you know, Queensland beautiful one day, perfect the next. Whoever thought of that logo needs a pay rise. Learned a lot of stuff or should I say remembered a lot of stuff. Main issue, leave early, have the car packed the night before and be on the road at 5 am. We left later that the original estimated departure time. And then stopped at garage bought ice and filled the tank with petrol. We drove as far as the gateway motorway and realised we were in trouble. Travelled well, till arriving on the other side of the gateway bridge. ‘Traffic congestion’ the flashing lights stated. Huge understatement. Huge. From the turn onto the M1, bumper to bumper traffic, for two and a half hours. A four hour trip to Bundy took nearly six. Grateful for the new car with brilliant air con. How life has changed. Our first trip here, years ago, old Holden wagon, windows down, music blaring, kids packed in along with camping requirements. Comfort not required. Another change, tents. More gratitude. Two poles placed through hoops and it’s done. Didn’t even need the tarp for ground cover. Set up beneath a beautiful tree, hopefully not a widow maker, seems sturdy enough, Gazebo up, chairs and table, yup. Quickest set up ever. Not like the olden times, with ten thousand poles and heavy canvas and time consuming. No, I like these new tents. Have I mentioned the double height queen size, blow up mattress? Yup, how things have changed. So grateful we are in a family friendly park packed with laughing, squealing kids, suntanned, togs and zinc- coated, running around playing tiggy, playing on swings, riding bikes, scooters, motorized at that. Tiny humans, being towed in little carts by mums and dads. Wonderful witnessing such joyful abundance. End of day 1 July 13th 2016 For this icon/memento for Never Surrender, making the finals for RWAustralia's 2016 Ruby Award. I'm beyond excited, but I've said that so many times already. I'm truly honoured to be amongst such talented authors vying for this award. Now to find a frock to wear to the Awards Dinner. It's going to be a great night.
June 28th 2016 I am excited and thrilled to announce that my debut novel, Never Surrender, is a finalist in Romance Writers of Australia's Ruby Award for the Short Sexy category. I am beyond thrilled to have achieved this. I entered Never Surrender into the Ruby as a way of showing myself that I believed in the book that I'd worked hard to write. I decided to stop judging myself against others and finding myself lacking, and to honour myself for seeing the whole process through. I sat down at my computer and filled out the entry form, and then I just stared at it. Negativity reared its head. I ignored it and located the file for the book. Self-doubt started yelling really loudly as the file started to send. I ignored that too. When the notification came through that the file had been received by the competition co-ordinator, I felt so damn proud of myself. When I received the phone call to let me know that Never Surrender, had made the final cut, I was gobsmacked. And I cried. I believe I babbled incoherently, and the wonderful co-ordinator was kindness personified. Thank you, Annie. The final list for the Short Sexy Category is below. I want to congratulate the other finalists. To the readers who judged Never Surrender and found it worthy of this honour, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
April 4th 2016 In February, I wrote what I believed was a very personal article re my attitude to my writing I stated that I was going to do a launch for my book Never Surrender, (did I mention I love that book?) Anyway, I thought it would be fun. In saying that, I had no idea how to host a face book party/launch. Thank heavens I’m resourceful. I've googled. I've asked others. So, the outcome is, I'm going to fake it till I make it. I'll put up the date and send out invites within the next few days. What will we do at said relaunch, well, you'll have to visit. I'll put the details up here and on my web page. And I’m also going to twitter it and Instagram it. So, there we go. All sorta sorted.
When I spoke to a friend she suggested that I get some hard copies printed and do a launch at the local library or coffee shop. Never Surrender is available for print on demand. So, I'm looking into that. So, a busy few weeks coming up for me. In doing all this, I’ve wondered, does anyone else, after they’ve committed themselves to do something they have no idea how to do, think that they should keep their bright ideas to themselves? I’m looking forward to hearing from you. Please leave a comment. The next thing I am going to do is attach an email to my web page. Anyway, that’s another challenge.
